Photosensitivity is an abnormal response to sunlight that manifests in burning, itching, bumps or pustules on the skin. Common medications can induce Photosensitivity . To protect your skin it is important to be aware of the medications that cause this reactivity.


Ultra violet light is also damaging to patients that have experienced cosmetic surgery, laser skin resurfacing, chemotherapy, or a transplant operation. Those who have Lupus or HIV are also easily harmed by sun exposure.


The following is a list of medications that cause photosensitivity, however even if the medication you are taking is not on this list, be sure to check with your pharmacist or doctor to ascertain if your medication can lead to photosensitivity.
